Certified Wine Judge with Merit Program
The Certified Wine Judge with Merit Program (CWJM) offers Certified Wine Judges a chance to be acknowledged for their ongoing education and judging activities each year they participate.
Candidates who register and earn 15 or more Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within the calendar year will receive the CWJM designation, a professional signature certificate, and a lapel pin. To qualify, each participant must judge at least two separate competitions. The program runs annually from January through December 15th. Candidates must submit their completed required CEU form to the Director of Education by December 15 of each year for verification and approval.
Certified Wine Judges who successfully complete the program for two consecutive years earn the title of Wine Judge with Merit II and can extend their recertification by an additional year and become eligible to apply for the Wine Judge with Distinction Program.
Because such a judge brings a high level of expertise and professionalism to any competition. Judges who actively engage in ongoing education stay current on evolving wine styles, trends, and evaluation techniques, ensure that they can assess wines with accuracy and insight. A well-practiced and educated judge enhances the credibility of any competition, as their informed and consistent evaluations contribute to respected outcomes. Selecting such a judge gives any competition a competitive edge by assuring participants and spectators that the wines are being evaluated by someone at the top of their field.
Early submission is available for those who wish to be recognized at the National Conference.
