The AWS is pleased to offer the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1, a beginner-level introduction to wine. It is suitable for those with an interest in learning more about wine or those starting a wine career.
You will have access to this self-paced, on-line course beginning Monday, April 26. You will have until May 23 to complete it, and you will have access for one year. Also, your fee includes a WSET e-book and the test offered in person June 26 in Greenville, NC.
For individuals new to wine study, the WSET Level 1 qualification introduces you to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and make food and wine pairings. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. You’ll be on your way to further wine exploration and subsequent WSET qualifications. The exam does not have a tasting component, and enrollment is open to those 18 years of age and older.
The fee for the course is $175 for non-members, which includes a 1-year membership in the AWS. The fee for existing AWS members is $150.
